The Associated Builders and Contractors’ (ABC) Excellence in Construction program has become the premier competition within the industry that recognizes outstanding construction projects across the nation. The award celebrates the most innovative and high-quality construction projects, safety programs, and diversity programs.
The recently-completed break room addition at Clayton Cavalier Homes in Addison, Alabama was recognized as one of the most impressive and unique construction projects in 2019 by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Greater Tennessee and the Associated Builders and Contractors of North Alabama. Brindley Construction received an Excellence in Construction Award from both industry organization chapters for its work on the design-build project.
Brindley crews constructed a new break room and administrative offices for Clayton Cavalier Homes, a modular mobile home manufacturer, and long-time Brindley client. The new break room was constructed on the front of the plant and consists of 10,500 square feet of finished café space and 2,300 square feet of covered patio. Plant employees now enjoy a rustic dining and break space complete with a large conference room. Four new administrative offices, new restrooms, a fully-furnished commercial kitchen fitted with stainless steel appliances, and outdoor seating were also included in the scope of the project.

“I’m always appreciative of every opportunity and project we receive, but to get to work with such an outstanding group of people like the Clayton Homes folks who I’ve been fortunate enough to work with all over the country for the past 20 years, it’s like working with good friends…both of us growing with each project,” notes Jeff Brindley, Vice President and Project Manager on the Clayton Cavalier Homes project.
The ABC Excellence in Construction Awards program recognizes projects that are built on merit. Each submission is judged in a rigorous process by a panel of construction experts based on a number of criteria, including safety, quality, owner satisfaction, execution and coordination, budgeting, difficulty, unusual challenges, and overall distinctiveness.
“This is an opportunity to recognize the professionalism of our contractor members who perform outstanding work for a wide variety of clients in areas like manufacturing, hospitality, and education,” said Tony Radar, Immediate Past Chairman of ABC National. “What makes the Excellence in Construction Awards program so special is that none of these award-winning projects are ordinary. Each one is unique and interesting.”
In addition to the Excellence in Construction Awards, Brindley Construction was also awarded the ABC of North Alabama Safety Award for Brindley’s perfect safety record on the Clayton Cavalier Homes project.
Kudos to all of the Brindley Team Members, our subcontractors and suppliers on this award-winning project!
