New administrative office

South Central Tennessee Development District provides numerous local governments with technical assistance, planning and general staff support. Previously, their staff of 45 was spread across three office spaces in downtown Columbia, Tennessee, making communication and teamwork nearly impossible. Their new administrative offices bring the organization’s logistics under one roof.

The 12,900-square-foot, single story facility is wood framed and finished with striking western cedar exterior and evergreen standing seam roofing. The interior includes an impressive lobby with a tongue-and-groove wood vaulted ceiling and exposed beams, ceramic tile floor, a large conference room with dividing partitions, an executive meeting space, 26 private offices, and two covered porches off the conference room that overlook the grounds.

This project was awarded the 2012 National Eagle Award for Excellence in Construction for Institutional Projects Less Than $5 Million by the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC).
