Wheelerton Baptist Church Continues to Grow

on Apr 16, 2019 7:11:00 PM By | Kathy Pigg | 0 Comments | Church Construction
Wheelerton Baptist Church, located in Dellrose, Tennessee was first established in 1944. By historical standards, Wheelerton Baptist is a recent addition to the membership of Giles County’s religious institutions. Following their first organizational meeting, 14 member families immediately set about making plans to build a church building to house Wheelerton Baptist’s congregation. A building site was donated by Mrs. Vera Soloman, who owned land in the community, and funds and furniture started coming in to the building committee in the amount of $415.68. The committee was able to locate a building belonging to a disbanded church and purchased it for $150. Church members, friends, family and other volunteers dismantled the structure, working to relocate the building to its new home. From some of the lumber, log benches were fashioned as seating for the church.

Brindley Construction is very familiar with healthcare projects—we’ve constructed many assisted living and memory care facilities over the last 20 years. Our recent renovation at The Rutherford, an Inspirit senior living community in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, was unlike any other. The Rutherford underwent much-needed renovations to both the property’s three-story assisted living facility and two-story memory care building. Throughout the project, our team worked closely with Inspirit Regional Director of Asset Management Scott Burkholder, PMP. When selecting a construction company for this project, Scott was seeking various qualities. “It is very important to me to pick a contractor partner for our projects that has experience in the assisted living and memory care space, and Brindley has what I was looking for,” says Scott. “Brindley also has a great staff that strives to produce a quality product with attention to detail.”

What One Factor Influences Construction Costs the Most?

on Nov 13, 2018 9:55:00 AM By | Kathy Pigg | 0 Comments | Design-Build
There are many factors that influence the cost of construction. Some are obvious: land acquisition, permits and construction costs. Then there are the future costs or life-cycle costs to consider: maintenance, repair, replacement—the cost of keeping the facility and its systems up and running. One of the most effective ways to control construction costs is to establish early involvement on behalf of the owner AND the contractor. This may seem obvious, but under the traditional method of construction delivery, the owner commissions an architect or engineer to prepare drawings and specifications, then separately selects a contractor by negotiation or competitive bidding at a later stage in the project’s development. This can present a number of problems for the owner Can the design be built for the budget and within the desired timeframe? If the project needs to go back to the drawing board, how much time will be lost? What if the architect and contractor disagree? How many contracts need to be managed by the owner?
